Planned Giving - Leave A Lasting Legacy

Since 1977 ValleyPBS has utilized the miraculous instrument of public media to enrich and change the lives of our families, friends and neighbors in the Central Valley. This important work has been made possible through the years because of loyal members and supporters like you. You can continue making the Valley a better place to live, learn and grow by establishing a planned gift to support the future of public television in our community.

Naming ValleyPBS as a beneficiary in your will or living trust can be done at any time. You can add a charitable provision to an existing document or express your charitable wishes in a new one.

Here are some ideas on how to make a gift to the station in your will or living trust:

You can give a specific dollar amount or property item

You can give a percentage of your asset(s)

You can give all or a portion of what remains after gifts to other beneficiaries such  as your family and friends have been made

Your gift can be contingent upon special circumstances or events.

No matter the form or the size, a gift in your will or living trust can help ensure   public media remains a vital resource for our community for many generations.

Prepare Your Will

Many ValleyPBS supporters choose to leave a donation in their wills and trusts as an
important way to have long-term impact, without any upfront cost during their lifetimes. Making a will is one of the most impactful ways to extend your love and generosity to thecauses and people you care about most. Legacy giving isn’t only for the wealthy — gifts of any size are deeply appreciated, and have come in sizes ranging from $100 to $1 million. Together, we can continue making an impact for years to come.

How it works:

1) Use this free tool to create your legal will online, or document your wishes and find an attorney near you.
2) Specify within your will the amount or percentage of your estate you’d like to leave (if any) to ValleyPBS and other charity organizations.
3) Rest assured knowing you’ll be making positive change for generations to come.

Additional Information:

If you’d prefer to go straight to an attorney to draft your will and you choose to leave a gift in your will, we suggest the following language and to advise us of your intentions:

“I bequeath (amount OR percentage) to Valley Public Television, Inc., a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of California, with the principal business address of 1544 Van Ness Ave. Fresno, CA 93721 and federal tax identification number 77-0162617.”

Yes. As soon as you print out your will, and sign it in front of two witnesses, it is a valid legal
document. If you live in Louisiana, you will need to sign your will with two witnesses in the
presence of a notary public.

Who makes a good witness?

Your two witnesses should be 18 or older, be of sound mind, and cannot be named in the will..

What should I do with my will once I sign it?

Be sure to leave it in a safe, secure place, and make sure the person you’ve chosen as your
executor knows exactly where it is.

I already have a will. Can I use FreeWill to update it?

Yes, you can! To do so, simply create and execute a new will using FreeWill, and destroy the earlier version.

Is an online will for everyone?

Nope! If you have a particularly large or complicated estate, you may want to have your will drafted by an attorney instead.
